Kim Greenspan Melman

Kim Greenspan Melman is the owner and founder of Expert Learning & Curriculum. Kim started her teaching career in Brooklyn, NY for the New York City Department of Education. While an elementary school teacher, she instructed students in ESL classes and inclusion classes. She gradually became a middle school ESL teacher and coordinator, where she managed mandated services for multilingual students and created a newcomer/SLIFE program at the school. Kim has never stopped learning; she holds a Masters of Arts in Education (K-6) and a Masters of Science in TESOL instruction (K-12), as well as Principal Certification (School Leadership) from Montclair State University. 

 

During her time as a classroom teacher, Kim developed a passion for professional development and teacher education. She took every opportunity to attend workshops, conferences, and institutes, and began to turnkey that information to her colleagues. She started by presenting at Columbia University on teaching mathematics to ESL students, and she was hooked! She learned she is equally as passionate teaching students as she is about sharing best practices with fellow teachers and educators. She now regularly presents at math and literacy conferences in New Jersey and New York. 

 

Currently, Kim works as an independent educational consultant, offering schools guidance in their support of K-8 ML students and the teaching practices within the school community. Kim is an Adjunct Faculty member at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, where she teaches seminar courses in Education and supervises Field Experience with students in the BA/MAT Program. She is a Clinical Supervisor for William Paterson University (WPU), where she supports candidates in the ESL alternate-route program. In partnership with WPU, Kim is also a Professor–in-Residence with Fairview Public Schools, where she serves as an instructional coach for the district’s ESL teachers.  

 

Kim serves as the Vice President of the Leonia Board of Education. In her free time, she cooks and gardens with her kids and plays a little too much tennis.
